This is an intensive exam prep program which is of interest to anyone who wants to work towards gaining the provincial certification required to operate or maintain a heating plant in a school, apartment, or similar setting.
Course content is approved by Inspection and Technical Services Manitoba, and follows the SOPECC syllabus to prepare students to write the provincial certification exam.
Students who successfully pass this course with a minimum of 90 hours attendance and at least 65% on the final exam, will be credited with 450 hours of the 900 required boiler experience hours – which they can apply towards their provincial certification. Students are personally responsible for securing their practical work experience for the additional hours.

Students are responsible for purchasing their own required textbooks (Power Engineering 5th Class Textbook Set (Ed. 3.5) AND the Panglobal Academic Supplement 2.0) from either Red River College Polytechnic or directly from Panglobal Publishers.
The cost of the textbook set is approximately $495 for the textbooks and $70 for the Academic Supplement. If you choose to purchase used textbooks, Edition 3.0 or newer are acceptable.
